This hack requires you to be running Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction (not classic!) on patch 1.12a.
Connecting to Battle.net will update your client to 1.13 which is incompatible with D2MultiRes at this time.
Download a mod, D2MultiRes.
First of all, you need to visit the download page for Diablo 2 Download. After Diablo II download for PC open the download folder. Take one disk to burn ISO file. After creating iSO file insert it into your system disk drive. Open the disk and click on the setup file for the start installation task. I have to many years Diablo 2 LOD, after years without playing I decided to install the game again, I have the installation CD and the expansion Lord of Destruction, but I lost my play disc and because of this I cannot perform the installation, I have the CD-Keys of the installation CD and the expansion set, so I lost my LOD 'play disc' game disk, but still have my CD-Key!
Download D2-1.12A- yourlanguage.iso and D2LOD-1.12A- yourlanguage.iso Mount and install the images. On Windows 10 you can simply double click on it to mount it as CD/DVD and use the installer.exe. Others use daemontools or similar. The first thing I would ensure is having patch 1.12/1.13 installed which lets you play without any discs inserted (copy protection removed). You must copy all.mpq files from the disc(s) to your harddrive, though. Unfortunately, even this doesn't help on some systems (the disc check itself seems broken). Diablo 2 Play Disc Iso Download Free
Extract it to your game directory, and launch using D2MultiResGame.exe. Once you start a game, there will be a new “resolution” option in the video options menu. Select it, and resolutions above 800×600 will be available.
The readme warns that you may get bad graphics glitches in Direct3D mode. I did, myself. Refer to additional screenshots. But when I switched to DirectDraw 2D mode, it worked just fine. You can set this by running D2VidTst.exe. Sadly, DirectDraw 2D disables parallax scrolling and other visual effects.
Lacking Direct3D mode is a pretty big one. But everything else seems fine.
Side-screens like inventory retain their original size, but take up half the screen with a tiled background (they originally took up half a 640×480 screen without needing any tiled background).
The HUD keeps its original size, with the life/mana spheres anchored to the corners, and the stamina and potions anchored to the bottom-center. And the map is pixel based.
How To Download Diablo 2
FMVs run at 640×480, but are hard-letterboxed to a theatrical 2.20:1. This means windowboxing on wide monitors.
